چکیده
Abstract. We present an extensive dataset of highly accurate absolute travel times and travel-time residuals teleseismic P waves recorded by the AlpArray Seismic Network complementary field experiments in years from 2015 to 2019. The is intended serve as basis for tomography upper mantle below greater Alpine region. In addition, data may be used constraints full-waveform inversion recordings. comprises about 170 000 onsets derived records filtered upper-corner frequency 0.5 Hz 214 0.1 Hz. high accuracy residual was obtained applying a specially designed combination automatic picking, waveform cross-correlation beamforming. Taking individual events, we are able visualise detail wave fronts they propagate across AlpArray. Variations distances between isochrons indicate structural perturbations below. Travel-time events exhibit spatially coherent patterns that prove stable if similar epicentral distance azimuth considered. When all available stacked, conspicuous areas negative emerge lateral location subducting slabs beneath Apennines western, central eastern Alps. Stacking 90∘ wide azimuthal sectors results distributions positive generally consistent but differ due differing direction illumination structures incident waves. Uncertainties estimated peak width function its maximum value. median uncertainty 0.15 s at 0.18 Hz, which more than 10 lower typical up ±2 s. display regional dependence caused quality differences temporary permanent stations well site-specific noise conditions.

Wave-equation-based travel-time seismic tomography – Part 1: Method
In this paper, we propose a wave-equation-based travel-time seismic tomography method with a detailed description of its step-by-step process. First, a linear relationship between the travel-time residual 1t = T − T syn and the relative velocity perturbation δc(x)/c(x) connected by a finite-frequency travel-time sensitivity kernel K(x) is theoretically derived using the adjoint method. To accur...
متن کاملEffects of shallow-layer reverberation on measurement of teleseismic P-wave travel times for ocean bottom seismograph data
We conducted synthetic experiments to evaluate the effects of shallow-layer reverberation in oceanic regions on P-wave travel times measured by waveform cross-correlation. Time shift due to waveform distortion by the reverberation was estimated as a function of period. Reverberations in the crystalline crust advance the P-waves by a frequency-independent time shift of about 0.3 s in oceans. Sed...

متن کاملTravel Time Inversion in Seismic Tomography
The word tomography finds its origins in the two Greek words tomos, meaning section, and graphy, which translates as drawing. There are many different types of tomography used in many sciences such as medicine, biology, materials science and geology. The basic idea of tomography in all of its uses is to obtain a cross-section of an object which will then be used to infer various facts regarding...
متن کاملGenetic Algorithms for Seismic Travel-Time Inversion
This paper attacks the problem of seismic travel-time inversion using genetic algorithms. Seismic surveying is usually a precondition to engineering and construction work in an area and travel-time inversion is a method of deducing sub-surface features from the measured travel-times of seismic waves. We consider both the one-dimensional and two-dimensional versions of the problem and explore di...
